a crafty life: Emily’s birthday top

I have a confession: my sewing machine and serger have lain idle since October last year (when I made Emily’s halloween ladybug costume). That is pretty disgraceful for someone who loves sewing. I’ve had loads of plans and bought fabric but then morning sickness and general tiredness hit, then Christmas, then something else and then another excuse. But in honor of Emily’s 2nd birthday I pulled out this gorgeous fabric, this equally lovely Japanese sewing book and got stitching. I even managed to rethread my serger myself which is no mean feat.

I planned to make a dress but I didn’t have enough fabric but I’m really happy with how the top came out and it looks so cute with her little “lellow shoos” and jeans.

The sewing bug may have returned. Watch this space.

Happy 2nd Birthday my little love xx
